Alberto Puig is holding his ground at Repsol Honda although what was once a flagship in MotoGP is pitching dangerously in this big squall which makes it look like a struggle. Better, while it was said to be weakened, it seems to be strengthening if we judge by the latest decisions of the HRC in the management of its WSBK project. The fact remains that we must now emerge from this storm and find calm waters which alone will bring everyone to safety. On this point, the new concession points are all appreciated lifelines...

2024 will be a year of change at Honda or it won't be. A trend that does not only concern the project MotoGP, but also the one entered in Superbike. Since Leon Camier decided to leave at the end of last season, Honda found herself forced to look for a new team manager.

From what we know, the choice fell on Jose Escamez, a well-known face in the MotoGP paddock, to the point of occupying the role of team coordinator at HRC until a few months ago. Alberto puig entrusted him with the management of the entire part relating to the coordination of the team and has now decided to offer him this new role.

Alberto Puig: “ it takes at least a whole year to bring a motorcycle to a level close to that of Ducati »

An approach which also shows thatAlberto puig retains all its influence within Honda. His succession therefore does not yet seem to be on the agenda, so that the said Puig hopes to last long enough to see its brand rise from its ashes in Grands Prix: “ the level is very high », recognizes the team manager who welcomes with open arms the new concession points in the regulations: “ obviously the concessions will be of great help. If the normal regeneration time was, say, a year, you can do it with concessions in six months ».

Because time is running out... It takes at least a whole year to bring a motorcycle to a level close to that of Ducati. It's also true that if we lose a little technical knowledge, it's very difficult to find it again. This is why we believe that these concessions are good for us and will give us the opportunity to shorten the deadlines ", has followed Puig who however believes: “ I don't know if it will take two years, a year and a half or a year. But it certainly won't be two months ».
