Alex Marquez

Alex Marquez is not having a hellish season but rather a hellish campaign aboard a Honda that he didn't imagine could be worse than the one he had last year. And yet, this is indeed the case, a disappointment shared by his three other distinguished colleagues. But you know your younger brother is the one who suffers the most. A depressing trend that the last French Grand Prix confirmed with one more element which put the LCR Honda driver beside himself…

Alex Marquez brings back two points from his French campaign which he ends up as the last pilot equipped with Honda since Pol Espargaro ranked eleventh, Taka Nakagami seventh and his illustrious brother Marc sixth. Alex Marquez did not come close to the top 10 during the entire Le Mans weekend. The team's MotoGP rider LCR Honda only qualified in 21st place on the grid for the 27-lap race at the Bugatti Circuit. The race also did not go particularly well for the driver of 26 years.

Indeed, in addition to struggling with his Honda, he experienced the agonies of the penalty imposed by the Race Direction. A long lag which added to the gap in terms of the gap under the checkered flag that the 3 Moto2014 World Champion and 2019 Moto2 title winner crossed 28 seconds later Enea Bastianini and Ducati.

Alex Marquez: “ It is unfair !«

« The start was good and the first lap didn't go bad either. After that I was in a good group, but I made a mistake in turn 8 ", explained Alex in the post-race interview. “ In the chicane, I took the exit because I wanted to avoid a collision with Marini. I lost two places, but the race direction still gave me a penalty of “long lap”. I think it's unfair! ».

Alex Marquez went into more detail: “ If I had been two tenths slower on the exit I wouldn't have been penalized, but it's so difficult to control on the bike. Later, I found the feeling on the bike again, I could do lap times in 1'32. Unfortunately much too late ", said the pilot Honda.

« We have big problems with the front. It's not that there's a lack of feel for the front tire, it's more a question of cornering », concludes the LCR pilot. “ When you see the other bikes in front of you, it's hard to accept ».
