Alex Marquez

This 2022 season will be interesting in more than one way in MotoGP. Sportingly speaking, given the differences noted during the off-season on the timesheet, the least we can say is that it will be disputed... Technically, debates will take place between the manufacturers with once again the inventive factory Ducati as the center of interest. And then this vintage will also be synonymous with negotiations. A number of contracts are expiring. Many drivers therefore have their future on hold… And this is the case of Alex Marquez who is more delighted than worried about this situation.

Fear, it is said, does not avoid danger so, when we report to Alex Marquez that he is one of those pilots who are in the hot seat, he is hardly offended. On the contrary: he claims it. A very family way of defying fate and meeting challenges. The pilot LCR Honda said so on speedweek : " more than pressure, it's a motivation for me “, declared the cadet of Marc Marquez. " Almost all contracts expire, everything will be open. It's a motivation to get a good place, or keep it, because I'm very happy here too“, added the double world champion in Moto2 version 2019 and Moto3 in 2014.

Alex Marquez (25) looks to the future

Alex Marquez: “it’s a beautiful thing when you don’t depend on anyone in your life”

The teammate of Nakagami equally balanced sees the challenge as an opportunity: “ In the end, my future is in my hands. It's a beautiful thing when you don't depend on anyone in your life. It depends on your skills, in your hands », affirmed the Spaniard of 25 years. “ It will be interesting to see. All the drivers are already pushing since the tests to give a good image ».

For Alex, however, one thing is clear: “ I believe in work. I believe we are ready for Qatar, to be able to fight for a good result. Then we'll see. Everything is open, I don't talk to anyone, it's Emilio's job », he mentioned, quoting his manager Emilio Alzamora. " My job is to deliver a good performance on the track. That's all I can do for my future ».

It will be remembered that some drivers will not have to worry about their future in 2022. Pecco Bagnaia renewed its contract with Ducati until 2024, the year in which the lease of Marc Marquez with Honda and Brad Binder with KTM will end. For his part, Franco Morbidelli is assured of his fate at Yamaha until the end of 2023. All the rest of the 24 drivers entered in the category must determine their future before the end of this season.
