In a recent conversation with the magazine “ AS“, Alex Marquez spoke about his collaboration with his brother Marc within the Gresini MotoGP team. This marks the first time that the Marquez brothers truly ride together after the failed meeting at Repsol Honda in 2020. The cohabitation is done today with a Ducati.

Alex Marquez played a crucial role in Marc's transition to Ducati, notably by revealing the dynamics of the team Gresini. “ When he made the decision, I was delighted, not only because he would be my teammate, but because I knew he was coming into a good environment. It was like saying 'come here, everything will be fine'“, explains Alex.

The change was not easy for Marc, who had spent more than a decade with Honda, winning six world titles before making the decision to terminate his contract, giving up significant gains to rediscover the pleasure of competition. “ He really listened to me on this one. We always consult each other before making big decisions“, shares Alex.

Alex Marquez: “ with Marc it's a rivalry where we give each other positive advice, not just to be in front of each other »

The brothers strive to maintain a healthy and productive rivalry within the team. “ It's different with him ; it's a rivalry where we give each other positive advice, not just to be ahead of each other“, Alex says of their unique relationship.

Marc has already demonstrated his podium potential this season, but has also encountered obstacles, such as contact with Pecco Bagnaia in Portugal and a brake problem in Texas. There are rumors that Ducati would consider giving him an official motorcycle next year.

As for Alex, he is currently thirteenth in the ranking with 14 points, and he describes the transition from GP22 to GP23 as complex. “ I had gotten used to the GP22, which was very manageable. GP23 is a bit in the middle, not as easy as GP22 but with improvements over it. We need to be patient and understand the bike better“, he concludes, recognizing that even his teammates at Ducati struggled with the GP23 model at first.
