Alex Rins is preparing to experience a 2023 MotoGP season aboard a Honda that he would undoubtedly not have chosen if Suzuki had continued its GSX-RR project. Many before him have failed with the RC213V which awaits him, but the Spaniard will do everything not to be the turkey of the joke at HRC. At the Valencia test, he hung the rack in his LCR box and although he knows that he is still far from being able to pop the champagne like in the two of the last three races of 2022. However, he has started to separate the wheat from the chaff of this RC213V. What awaits him is a real challenge, and he has prepared for it to the point of changing his diet.

In fact, he had turned his daily menu upside down before signing for Honda, since the Spaniard admits that it has now been more than six months since he banned meat, eggs and fish from his dishes. An initiative read on mototo.it who took over the Motorsport.com podcast: “ I never said it publicly » – he explained -, “ but six months ago I became vegetarian. I decided to eliminate meat and fish from my diet. I do it for my physical condition and also for the animals ". In short, this decision is a mix between an ethical choice and a professional choice.

alex rins adds: " I am surrounded by my dogs. I want to live healthier, but above all I do it for the animals. Since becoming vegan, I feel much better physically. At first, I did it 70% because I wanted to feel better and 30% because I love animals. The situation has reversed over time ". By becoming vegan, you also become an activist.

Alex Rins: “ I will intensify the mental training«

But how does the body of a top athlete react in these cases? Apparently not so bad: “ I lost about three kilos, but my strength and performance on the bike remained the same or even improved ". The Spaniard, who invites everyone to try this diet, also explained that he had also slightly modified his physical training, introducing “ new strength exercises ».

And he ends with another aspect: “ I will also do mental training. It's something I've been doing for a long time and I've stepped up over the past year ". And all this is to prepare for a 2023 campaign which he understood was opening onto a new era: “ it will be a more physically demanding year due to the introduction of sprint races ». Kidneys explained that he had thought about it and was also training with this in mind.
