It is as leader of the MotoGP world championship and with 14 points ahead of second Johann Zarco, that Fabio Quartararo arrives in Germany for the Motorrad Deutschland Grand Prix, which is being held this weekend at the Sachsenring after a year of absence .

After a week of rest after the Italian Grand Prix, the Catalan Grand Prix and the Catalan Test, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team representative is full of energy to start the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland weekend.

Until now, the Sachsenring has hardly smiled on Fabio Quartararo, during the five editions in which the French rider participated: fall in 2015 under the colors of Honda Estrella Galicia 0,0 and 23rd in one lap in 2016 with the KTM Moto3 of Leopard Racing, 13th in Moto2 with the Kalex of Pons HP40 in 2017 and 9th in 2018 with the Speed Up, to date his best result on the German circuit. Overall modest results but quickly forgotten when he arrived in MotoGP, where El Diablo qualified 2nd and first Yamaha rider in 2019 before crashing in turn #3 on the second lap of the race.

In view of these contrasting results, we easily understand the impatience of the Nice native to start his weekend in Germany, with a view to scoring vital points to maintain his first place in the drivers' standings, or even increase his lead of 14 points over his closest rival. Having shown competitive pace for most of the season, the Frenchman is confident in his ability to produce a good result on German soil.

fabio quartararo : " Thanks to the work carried out during the Catalan test, we were able to prepare a setting that gives us confidence for the Sachsenring. It's not my best track, but I'm still excited to start riding here. We've had good pace throughout the season so far, so I'm happy with that and hope to be able to get a good result this weekend. »

Massimo Meregalli : « We now begin the final back-to-back weekends of MotoGP before the summer break. This is a crucial moment for the championship. Everyone wants to finish the first half of the season on a good note so they can fully enjoy their summer vacation and enter the second half of the season in a more comfortable position. This weekend we race at the Sachsenring for the German GP. It is a special circuit in that it is not to every driver's taste, but good settings and the agility characteristics of the M1 have proven effective for this circuit. Our team has had several podiums here, but to do that again we need to start the weekend in the right way on Friday. We are looking forward to going there and continuing the work done during the Catalan Test, which we hope will benefit us. »
