After dominating the Catalan Grand Prix from start to finish and proving fastest in the MotoGP Test which followed, fabio quartararo arrives at the Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, the 10th round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship, with a lead of 22 points on his closest rival, the stunned Aleix Espargaró.
Also well helped by the impetuous Takaaki Nakagami who eliminated Francis Bagnaia et Alex Rins from the first corner in Barcelona, as well as by Enea Bastianini qui est parti à la faute tout seul, les deux leaders ont dorénavant fait le trou sur un peloton emmené par “Bestia”And Johann zarco. Il y a chez certains comme un goût de revanche à prendre en Allemagne…
But we know, luck is fickle, and to further complicate the very particular route of the Sachsenring, we will have to face another element during this penultimate confrontation before the summer break: heat wave !
On the contrary, with the heatwave and air temperatures of nearly 37°, the track could exceed 60°, thus transforming itself into a sneaky trap for the French envelopes who will have to complete this veritable obstacle course 30 times, both for men and machines.
“Last year, the temperatures were rather high, with more than 50°C on the track for the race, but drops of rain also made life difficult for the drivers. With its very particular profile, very short with three right turns, the constraints weighing on the tires are very specific to the Sachsenring. Despite everything, our engineers are ready to take on this challenge and I am confident that our 2022 tire allocation will meet all of these constraints and, in good conditions, allow us to set good times and offer an exciting race. » however declared Piero Taramasso, Two-wheel Manager at Michelin Motorsport.
Whatever happens, and even if someone inevitably does it, it will not be easy to take back the crown from the undisputed master of the place, the unfortunate Marc Márquez, 11 times winner on the snail track (8 x MotoGP™, 2 x Moto2™, 1 x 125cc), still forced to a long convalescence after his major arm operation. A new French success is far from impossible, whether thanks to the favorite fabio quartararo or to Johann zarco, poleman last year…
