Fabio Quartararo Germany

Fabio Quartararo is usually at ease in Germany; as a reminder, this is where he took his last victory to date, during the 2022 season. As is so often the case, he's been quite fast this weekend, and proved it again with fourth place at the end of Practice. Except that's not enough. "El Diablo" knows he's fast, that the Yamaha can compete with other machines on a lap… but he also knows that it is much more complicated to last the distance. This naturally creates frustration.

Although he was satisfied with his fourth place, Quartararo did not appear particularly happy in the columns of speedweek. « We don't have a good race pace, but we know we're pretty quick over a single lap.. I hope we can find a solution to improve our race pace in the coming weeks or months. We need more grip so the bike slides less. This way we won't have to stress the tires as hard and we'll avoid them overheating. » he explained.

Overheating of the tire sidewalls is one of the weak points of the Yamaha YZR-M1. « This is one of the problemsThe tires are overheating and slipping more, which is affecting performance. Our balance isn't particularly good. We need to improve in this area. I've had a lot of crashes on the front this year because I've had to push very hard. The front is used more than the others.. I can't use the rear wheel to slow the motorcycle down. So we brake exclusively with the front wheel. The feeling with the front end is very good, but the overall performance is disappointing" he added.

It is clear that this year is reserved for the development of the 2026 machine, but the frustration of the great champion Fabio Quartararo is entirely understandable. « Of course, we have to focus on the 2026 bike, but we also have to keep an eye on this season.I think we can take the experience of 2025 into next year. I hope they continue to focus on this bike, even though 2026 is a priority. We are still far from the mark, especially in terms of race pace when conditions are difficultWe lack consistency. We are only consistent on tracks with a lot of grip. he concluded.
