Jack Miller

Jack Miller probably loves the Ducati emblem too much to knowingly thumb his nose at it before slipping away in the direction of KTM, but we can still wonder about the irony of fate. Indeed, on the Sachsenring podium, we saw Johann Zarco and Jack Miller supervising the impeccable winner Fabio Quartararo. Ducati did not have the victory, the last of which in Saxony dates back to 2008 with Casey Stoner, but at least there was the podium, never climbed since Dovizioso in 2016. And yet, the faces were gray among the red tunics...

While fabio quartararo uttered the furious cry of the victor, the ranks of Ducati were characterized by a deafening silence. It must be said that there is reason to wonder about a possible curse. As soon as the brand takes a close interest in one of its drivers, and there are eight of them riding a Desmosedici this year, the lucky one knows all the misfortunes. We will not return to the fate of bagnaia, Martin et bastianini, but we will notice that those who, on the contrary, are ignored by the staff of Borgo Panigale, experience success. Johann zarco thus grows in power in the greatest anonymity and Jack Miller found his way to the podium in Germany while the ink of his signature placed on a contract KTM two years old still dry...

So it was indeed the starter who saved the honor of the red house which was in a state of despair… But before recording this third place, we had to sweat. The Australian says: “ it was a very long race...Already thirty laps are long in themselves, but this Sunday the track conditions were really difficult. The track temperature reached 54°C. No matter how much heat the bikes give off, it was really hot ».

“Having to take the long lap for the penalty was a hard blow” He recalls. “I knew I had to get a good start to compensate for this disadvantage but unfortunately I couldn't. The long lap was one of the riskiest moments, there were stones on the asphalt and for a while I even risked losing the front ». But unlike his teammate, he remained on his wheels: “When I came back, I had to take care of the Ducatis. These are bikes that I know so it wasn't too difficult, whereas with Maverick's Aprilia it would have been more difficult if he had not had this technical problem with the lowering device.

Jack Miller and the attitude corrector: “ the risk is there as with any other element of the motorcycle«

He adds : “With Aleix, I knew it wouldn't be an easy undertaking, so my strategy was to get as close to him as possible, while waiting for his misstep. When he finally took the wrong trajectory, I took advantage of it. In the last laps I still had some tire left and I tried to keep a good pace to try to chase Zarco, but it wasn't possible. After all at this point in the race, I don't think I was the only one who was really physically limited. ».

Jack Miller also returns to the failure of the level corrector Maverick Vinales, a defect which also forced the abandonment Alex Marquez, to better put things in context: “I was among the first at Ducati to try the lowering device, so yes, I saw a lot of technical problems at the beginning, but now the device works much better. It is clear that it is another technical element on the motorcycle which can suffer a malfunction.nt, there are also many others, so the risk is there as with any other element of the motorcycle”.

After this Saxon performance, Jack Miller joined Pecco Bagnaia in the championship. He is seventh just behind the Italian with the same number of points, 81.
