Everyone could see that the MotoGP German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring was a particularly difficult moment for fabio quartararo.

The gamble of a soft rear tire and a seat wing fitted at the last moment (is there a connection?) ultimately did not pay off and the official Yamaha rider had to settle for a very modest 13th place under the flag after starting from 12th position on the starting grid.

« Yes, it was a complicated day. We tried to take a gamble with the soft tire, and it didn't work at all. It was totally a mistake on our part, but like I said, finishing 13th or 10th, it wasn't a big difference. I think Aleix had the same option and I was able to pass him on the last lap, but that was also a disaster. But yes, that's how it is. We had to try to give our best. »

A difficult situation and period to live through for the 2021 world champion, and which is reminiscent of that of a Marc Márquez multi-titled rider who finally withdrew in Germany after suffering 5 crashes during testing on the Saxony track.

The French driver's comments on this subject were therefore collected by the press after the Grand Prix.

« Of course, he's been in a tough situation a lot longer than me, so I can tell you he's very strong. And of course, you know, it's been, let's say, six months, a little over six months, that we've had difficult times, but it's difficult because I know my potential in terms of a driver and I know where the boundaries. I understand very well how he is, what he can feel. From sa injury en 2020, il he come de monter on le podium, but for soft, il rest le better. As a driver, he gives 100% in every session. Here he fell and got up each time to try to do better. Mentally he is undoubtedly the strongest, but there comes a time when you get injured, a broken thumb in his case. It's strange of me, but I want to congratulate him for what he's doing. He's a very, very strong person, so we haven't been in this situation for a little less time. But we will have to try to get out of it as quickly as possible. »

Si Marc Márquez has suffered 12 falls since the start of the season, fabio quartararo only concedes 4, a difference perhaps linked to the different characteristics of the machines…

« Compared to Honda, they have a slight advantage in cornering, while Yamaha has a slight advantage in braking. This can help prevent falls, but it doesn't take away from the fact that we are always at the limit. We're struggling too, so I can totally understand that. »
