Luca Marini secured another top 10 finish and was again the best Honda rider, but expects more for the rest of the season.
Luca marini He once again delivered a solid Sunday performance at the German Grand Prix. Always very discreet, he fluctuated in the middle of the pack throughout the weekend before putting everything together today and climbing back up the standings.
Since the start of the season, he has only crashed twice, both times in sprint races, and has finished all the main races. He has only finished three of them outside the top 10, which puts him tenth in the championship standings and the top Honda rider.
Qualifying in 13th position, he gained two places at the start, then another two following crashes by Fabio Di Giannantonio and Álex Márquez. Running ninth for most of the race, he finally overtook Jack Miller in the closing laps to take eighth place.
A result that brought a smile to his face before the summer break, but which does not satisfy him entirely. Marini He believes this was the best Honda could achieve, but it's still far from the top spots. He hopes things will improve in the second half of the season.

“We did the best we could. This is our current potential, so I’m satisfied with our performance. As in Assen, the team and I worked well to finish the weekend in a better position than we started, and the lessons learned from the sprint race helped a lot.”, did he declare.
“During this first half of the season, I think we tried everything: all the settings, all the parts, and every detail. I want to thank my guys for their work. I remain optimistic and I think we can find something in the second half to take the next step, because we shouldn't be happy with eighth place. We only have one race left in the next six weeks.” [Silverstone early August, editor's note.]This is an excellent opportunity to focus on physical and mental recovery, and to see what the engineers can discover for the second half of the season.
