The German Grand Prix marks the eighth round of the 2021 MotoGP season. The riders return to a Sachsenring whose last visit dates back to 2019. The 2020 edition had to be canceled due to the health crisis. In this world before, Marc Marquez was unbeatable on this circuit since 2010. In the world after, power is up for grabs, and two French people can claim it…

Johann zarco indeed qualified on pole for the sixth time in MotoGP and for the 25th time in his Grand Prix career. This is the first pole of zarco since the Czech Grand Prix last year and the second pole for a French driver in the premier class at the Sachsenring, with Olivier Jacques in 2002, on a Yamaha two-stroke engine.

With Francis Bagnaia in Qatar, Jorge Martin in Doha and now Johann zarco in Germany, it is the first time that there are three drivers Ducati different who obtain pole position in the same MotoGP season since 2018. It was then with Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo and Jack Miller.

On pole during the last five races, Fabio Quartararo qualified in second position for his 29th front row, in what is his 41st MotoGP race. During his 28 From front row starts, he has been on the podium 13 times, including five of his six premier class victories so far.

With Johann zarco et Fabio Quartararo, this is only the second French double in a premier category qualifier with Brno last year with the same drivers since 1974, when pole position began to be officially recorded.

Aleix Espargaró qualified in third position after a firstAprilia had not paced since Jeremy McWilliams' pole position at the 2000 Australian GP. It is also Aleix Espargaró's best qualification since his second place at the 2015 Dutch TT. He was then on a Suzuki.

Jack Miller qualified in fourth position, which is the 11th consecutive time that he has started from the first two rows of the starting grid. A streak that started at the European Grand Prix last year.

In pole position in every race he has contested at the Sachsenring since 2010, Marc Marquez qualified in fifth position. This is his best result since his third place at the Spanish Grand Prix last year, before his injury. With Marc Marquez in fifth position, it is the first time that there is no driver Honda on the front row in MotoGP at the Sachsenring since 2009.

Winner of the Catalan Grand Prix, Miguel Oliveira qualified in sixth position, which is the second consecutive time he has started from the first two rows. Additionally, this is the best qualifying result for KTM in MotoGP at the Sachsenring.

George Martin is seventh as the best rookie for his best qualifying since his pole in Doha earlier this year. Francis Bagnaia qualified in 10th position, this is the third time this year that he has not started from the first three rows. This was the case in Portugal where he finished in second position and in France where he finished in fourth.

The champion in title Joan mir qualified in 17th position, which is his worst qualification of the season so far. He will start in 16th position after the penalty of bastianini. After failing to reach Q2, Maverick Vinales qualified in 21st position, his worst result since joining MotoGP in 2015. He has finished on the podium in the last two MotoGP races held at Sachsenring.
