On this Thursday, June 17, 2021, Marc Márquez answered questions from journalists from the Sachsenring circuit, ahead of the German Grand Prix.

We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the Spanish rider, who will try this weekend to finally launch his season on a track where he remains undefeated since 2010 regardless of the category considered: 125cc, Moto2 and MotoGP. But times are tough for number 93, who has completed three races each time ending with a fall, and it will be very difficult, if not impossible, for him to preserve his invincibility this weekend.

As usual, we report here the words of Marc Márquez  without the slightest formatting.

What are your main challenges this weekend?

"This Maybe this weekend will be the one where I finally feel better with my arm and shoulder. I think and I hope that I will not have any limitations from this point of view on this circuit, because there are a majority of left turns. We can therefore hope that this is the first weekend of the season without the slightest physical limitation. »

Why do you think this has been a disappointing season for Honda so far?

" I try still assessing Honda's state of form. It is clear that we are not at our best, and even last year the team was in great difficulty. But I'm still trying to analyze the situation from my side, and at the moment I can't say that I'm of much help on the bike, but the opposite is true because I'm not helped by either this one. »

" The Both sides are not at a good level, so this is the origin of our difficulties in the results. But it doesn't matter, I'm going to try throughout the season to progress on my own. Me and my whole team are working on improving the bike. We will try to raise our level of play to arrive at the end of the season with a good package, to be able to foresee the transition to 2022 with a competitive machine. »

You probably saw the Supersport 300 race in Misano last weekend, during which Ana Carrasco won after an impressive return from injury [the Spanish driver, World Champion in the category in 2018, was seriously injured on the back last September during tests conducted on the Estoril circuit, editor's note]. What do you think of his result, and what impression does it give you to see someone succeed in coming back after such a difficult period?

" Good of course I was very happy for her, and I know her team very well. After such a long recovery period, it's something that tends to motivate you even more. I discussed it with her team manager, and it's true that she trained very hard and had a very good preseason. She arrived ready, but it's always a nice thing to achieve such a result after a serious injury. She fully deserves it, and if she starts the season like this then she will stay at the front. »

Does this give you confidence in your prospects for advancement?

" I think the situations are a little different, because I still don't feel 100%, and I took the course season without any tests. Of course I would like to achieve the same type of results as Ana by the end of the season, but we have to take it step by step. At the moment, as soon as I want to be fast I fall, so that's an indicator that I'm not ready. »

What were your feelings during the Barcelona test? You covered 87 rounds and explained that you were "physically destroyed" after that day. How did your body recover after that, and how did you prepare for this weekend?

"The Barcelona test was important for Honda, but also for me. It's the first time I was able to ride the bike without the cameras and all that pressure around me. I just rode around trying various little things on the bike. I also tried quite a few things for my personal gains, and it was beneficial. The next two days I was completely exhausted, but I was still able to do cross country the following Friday without too much problem. This is also a sign that little by little, I am getting back on track. physical. »
