Halfway through the season, the 2025 MotoGP championship seems all but over. Marc Marquez is sweeping the field with such an overwhelming lead that there's now only one realistic scenario to prevent a seventh world title in the premier class: a drop in form... by Marc himself.
The eight-time world champion took advantage of the summer break with 120 points ahead of his brother Alex (Gresini), his closest pursuer. Even Pecco Bagnaia, his teammate at Ducati and double reigning champion, is relegated to 168 points. The numbers are dizzying: 8 Grand Prix victories, 11 sprints won on 12 sleeves. The rest of the field saw only the dust left in its wake.
Marc Marquez sticks to his strategy: no projections, no calculations. He doesn't want to hear about the title until it's in his hands. With such a cushion of points, he believes the only way to lose it is to waste it.
Andrea Dovizioso, one of his toughest former rivals, told *Fanpage* that he didn't expect such a level of dominance, even with a factory Ducati:
« I knew he was going to annoy everyone, but not to this extent. This is a new demonstration of his immense talent. »
Andrea Dovizioso: “ Today, Marc Marquez may be a little less sharp, but his experience more than makes up for the difference. »
For Dovi, Marquez Today's is different. Less fiery, more strategic, less "absurd" in its ability to win the impossible, but still more than enough to crush the championnat :
« Before, he won races that he should never have been able to win.. Today he may be a little less sharp, but his experience more than makes up for the difference.
The only time when Marquez was not in contention for victory, it was at Silverstone, where Marco Bezzecchi it's imposed. Marquez, after an early fall and a restart authorized by the regulations, still climbed back up to 3rd place.
Pecco Bagnaia won the GP of the Americas, only thanks to Marc's fall while he was leading. Alex Marquez claimed his first ever MotoGP victory at Jerez… after his brother crashed early on. Johann zarco, on a LCR Honda although struggling this season, snatched victory at Le Mans while Marquez finished 2nd despite two long lapses.
Márquez's only retirement of the season came in the United States, when he was leading by a wide margin. Other than that, there were no breakdowns or major issues. His riding is precise, aggressive when needed, and sensible when necessary.
At this rate, Marc Marquez is on its way to equaling Valentino Rossi with nine crowns. The scenario is written. Only a bad streak or overconfidence could revive a championnat MotoGP already lethargic.
The biggest challenge of Marquez Now? Don't fall into the trap of taking the easy way out. And that may be the only race left open.
