The MotoGP season has drawn two of its thirteen allocation cartridges on the calendar. The Jerez site was the scene of these two Grands Prix which delivered the same winner: Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman is therefore at the top of the general classification with the maximum possible points scored, a total of 50. Does this mean that the season should be considered over? Andrea Dovizioso thinks not. Firstly because Marc Marquez has not yet played his part, and secondly because at Yamaha, we have already largely depleted our strategic engine stock…
The MotoGP season started with a bang with twists and turns almost at every level. In spades, we find KTM become poison of Ducati who have difficulty convincing in the color red. There was the ascent, then the accident and finally the injury of a Marc Marquez who attempted a successful return by Crutchlow et Kidneys also operated after falls. There was also the demonstration of fabio quartararo, the strong comeback of Valentino Rossi, including on the political scene, and, finally, a factory Yamaha happy to celebrate first a double, then a treble, while worrying about a problem of engine reliability… Which forced us to exhaust the allocation of the five mechanics allocated by this campaign…
In total, we realize that the 50 points of fabio quartararo are certainly indicative of his talent, but not necessarily a harbinger of the course to follow for the championship. Andrea Dovizioso, who scored 26 points, and who is therefore already 24 behind, does not think otherwise when he warns that it would be wrong to already put Marc Marquez offside for the title this year…
“In this championship everything is possible”
He states thus: “ we have to see in what conditions Marc will return to Brno and if he will be able to ride at 100% or will have a certain limit. Because it can make a big difference ". The official Ducati who has not yet signed anything for 2021 adds: “ but when he has a clear objective, he makes no mistakes. At first I thought he was no longer capable of fighting for the World Championship, but now I think he still has possibilities, especially because we have to see how Yamaha handles the possible problem they have with the engines. It is true that Quartararo has 50 points and he will certainly be fast on all tracks, but in this championship anything is possible ».
Everything is possible also for DesmoDovi which arrives on tracks favorable to the Desmosedici, i.e. Brno, then, twice the Red Bull Ring. Miller et Bagnaia, from the Pramac team are also of this opinion…
