For almost eighteen months, Andrea Dovizioso held Ducati's entire destiny on his shoulders by winning victories, fighting head to head against a Marc Márquez to whom he challenged the title until the last Grand Prix of the 2017 calendar. However, we showed that we were faster than last year on several tracks, and if things went wrong it was because of small technical details that were difficult to understand. This is particularly the case with the tires, which are different from those of last year, which affects the settings and the use of the fairing. We have to change them more often than last year and I can't drive 100%. But we are still fast which should allow us to overcome our difficulties ».
« Morally, it's okay. When you make mistakes by not being fast, that's a problem. This is not our case. Of course, coming back with zero points from a Grand Prix is a disappointment, especially in this championship where being consistent is essential. But we have to continue working as we do, and I think taking a slap on the face always puts things into perspective. ».
Concerning Lorenzo, it develops : " saying that he can win this championship is not without meaning because he has shown during his career that he knows how to win and that, when he is in this form, he is one of the best. We'll see. Ducati supports us both in the same way. There is no hierarchy. I have a lot of points to recover, but in MotoGP, each race can redistribute everything. We need to stay calm and only think about scoring points without being obsessed with the championship ».
This weekend, it will be Assen: “ it's a special route, last year we were fast there unlike other years. We were hoping for victory with the rain forcing Marc and me not to risk everything. If temperatures rise, this will be a problem for rear tire wear. Nobody wants rain, but in these conditions the Ducati performs well ».
