The circuit now officially called Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” is special in that it has always been managed by individuals since its creation, and not by a city, a region or a federation.

This has not stopped it from continually improving, since its inauguration in 1972, when it only had a few open boxes.

Slight modification of the route and creation of infrastructure worthy of the name took place in the early 90s, then the notable expansion of the paddock in 1998, before a radical restructuring and modernization program in 2006: a new main entrance to the circuit was built as well as a new medical center.

At the end of 2006, to welcome the return of MotoGP, the circuit was equipped with a new track extended to 4 meters by reversing the direction of travel (now clockwise) and abandoned its first name of "Santa Monica International Circuit"To  “Misano World Circuit”.

We know what happened next with the start of the splendid paintings drawn by Aldo Drudi in 2017. The paint used is locally produced Samoline paint which offers the same adhesion as asphalt in all weather conditions. 120 quintals of paint were used with pigments made especially in the United States.

This year, the circuit has been completely resurfaced but, less known fact, to continue to expand in terms of boxes. Indeed, the building which overlooks the straight line and the pit lane will ultimately have 18 new boxes, spaces dedicated to reception and the historical museum as well as rooms for events and a large panoramic terracee overlooking the circuit.

The work has already started but was paused due to the health crisis. They will resume in the fall.

Below, the current state of the paintings of the most colorful circuit in the world: frankly, we love it!
