During the 2021 season, Enea Bastianini was the object of all desire on the part of Aprilia who had not yet jumped at the Maverick Viñales opportunity. But the Noale factory suffered a refusal from the one managed by Carlo Pernat who served the manufacturer in his time and who remained very attached to it. This is the site speedweek who makes this revelation: although bastianini has a two-year contract with Ducati until the end of 2022, Aprilia race director Massimo rivola who saw at that time Andrea Dovizioso to play the test driver on the RS-GP, went to approach him, with hard-hitting arguments. Aprilia Racing was thus willing to pay Ducati the premature exit ticket, contractually agreed at more than 700 euros, to recover bastianini.
But surprisingly, the refusal did not come from Borgo Panigale, but from the pilot himself. The Italian preferred to stay with Ducati, moreover for a lower price, because of his better chances of success. Aprilia then consoled himself with Maverick Vinales.
