MotoGP: Aprilia may change dealership ranks in Brno and the impact would be huge

Dealerships are a very important topic in MotoGP, and this time it is Aprilia that is at the heart of the discussions. Despite a victory this season, the average results of Raul Fernandez, the absences of Ai Ogura and the famous Jorge Martin file lead the Noale-based company to find itself just a few points behind the D category, the one that enjoys the greatest advantages in MotoGP. Currently, Ducati is classified A, KTM and Aprilia C, and Yamaha and Honda D. In Brno, everything could change.

The system is quite simple: ranking is calculated based on the percentage of points scored over a given period. Mid-season, the concessions can be modified based on the brands' results over the past year. Precisely, This Brno Grand Prix can change everything for Aprilia. Certainly, the Italians are second in the constructors' standings, but could be relegated to category D if they fail to score 10 points at the Czech Grand Prix.

 

 

This may seem anecdotal, but the stakes are immense: in category D, it is possible to work freely on the engine, to benefit from more tests, wild cards... whereas in C, The mill is frozen until the end of the 2026 season! This major deadline comes at a decisive moment for Aprilia, since it is this weekend that the world champion MotoGP 2024 Jorge Martin is expected to make his big return to competition.

When asked about this, Massimo Rivola did not hesitate for a second when answering. « We don't really care. Right now, we're not focusing on it. We're trying to be as efficient as possible. We won't try to aim for rank D, and I think we'll stay where we are." he asserted.
