Despite temperatures that were anything but summer, to the point that FP1 was delayed to let the Spanish asphalt warm up a few degrees, Aleix confirmed his feeling and that of the Aprilia RS-GP on the MotorLand Aragón track.

On the first day of testing he took sixth place in the combined standings, a result he achieved during the second part of the FP2 session.

This constitutes a good start for qualifying, since no one is really sure of being able to improve the times tomorrow morning in FP3, given the even lower temperatures which are expected there, even if the native of Granollers who lives in Andorra is wants more than caution on the subject.

Note, however, that even in very cold conditions, the Catalan did not do poorly this morning, placing his Aprilia RS-GP in tenth position.

Aleix Espargaró : " This morning was the only time in my MotoGP career where I was worried, given the temperature of the asphalt. With this bike and the power we have, it's really difficult and I thought delaying FP1 was definitely the right thing to do. When I saw that there were only seven degrees on the asphalt, I wrote to Loris Capirossi and asked him to change the timetable. Driving in these cold temperatures is impossible. »
« In the afternoon things more or less returned to normal and I was able to go fast, but I'm not sure my time will guarantee pre-qualification for Q2. If we were in the Moto2 or Moto3 category, then I would say that I would definitely be in Q2 but knowing the riders, I am sure that at the end of FP3 tomorrow, everyone will try to attack the time and that the ranking will change. So it's not enough, 99%. I still have to take risks. Of course, it won't be easy because the asphalt will be quite cold. In any case, I am optimistic. On this track, the Aprilia RS-GP expresses itself extremely well. Long curves suit us. It’s a route that suits us. We need to make sure we get the most out of this double weekend. »
