The LCR Honda driver was quite comfortable in the difficult conditions encountered in Aragón and for the moment has his automatic place in Q2.

Cal Crutchlow left the French Grand Prix with a crash and zero points after a very positive weekend. He showed his speed despite his injuries and wants to get off to a good start in Aragon, a track that has favored him in the past with many top 5s.

The English rider was not helped, like the rest of the MotoGP field, due to very low temperatures and a strong wind which shook the track. FP1 was also delayed by half an hour to wait for better conditions, a decision he welcomes: “Our first session was delayed and I think it was the right decision considering our MotoGP and the Michelin tires. We know from years of experience that they are difficult to warm up so the race management did a good job. »

With an eighth place in the morning and a fifth place in the afternoon, Crutchlow finished in the final top 5 in the combined time rankings of the two sessions and is therefore provisionally automatically qualified for Q2. A satisfactory first day which will nevertheless have to be confirmed tomorrow to remain in the same positions.

“Once the session started I felt pretty good, I was quite comfortable and confident with the bike, even though it was moving a lot and we need to improve on this point for tomorrow because it "It's impossible to ride the bike like that for a whole race", did he declare. “Because of the temperatures we are very far from the times of a usual weekend but it was a good day for the team and we are looking forward to tomorrow. »
