Valentino Rossi is not in a favorable period. Until Misano 1, however, he seemed to be in good shape. But no less than three successive retirements due to falls then occurred, causing him to fall to thirteenth place in the championship, the worst ranking he has ever had since his debut... Some have detected in this disappointment the first notes of the song of the swan. And Aragon, with its two successive meetings, would have enough to force the tone. The Doctor also admits to dreading this step…

After suffering his third consecutive retirement at Le Mans, Valentino Rossi expects a difficult task this weekend, in Aragon. And all the more so since he will have to experience two Grands Prix there in two successive weekends. At Mans, the Italian crashed in the Dunlop chicane. The failure of the last races is also reflected in the ranking of the World Championship, in which Red has now slipped to 13th place.

En Aragon, the nine-time world champion wants to get back on the path to points. But he knows that this circuit is not his friend, even if he finished third in the MotoGP category in 2013, 2015 and 2016. By the way, he is still looking for his 200rd podium…

« After the race at Le Mans, the team heads to Motorland Aragón, where we will do two races in a row. This route has always been a difficult place for me, so it will be a challenge to be strong there », explains the one who won 115 repeated in Grand Prix.

A track that is not ideal for a Yamaha

However, Red hope for a good result. “ I’m quite fast this year and I also have a good feeling on the bike,” he said. The 41-year-old driver knows: “we will have to work hard and find out how we can improve our performance in Aragon ».

The team director Massimo Meregalli agrees : " we know from the past that Aragon is a track that does not suit the strengths of our bike so well, so the next two rounds of the World Championship will not be easy for us. Nevertheless, we want to fight again for the top places ».

« Vale is not the biggest fan of this circuit, but his pace has been very strong this year. He has already been on the podium three times in Aragon and his motivation to get back on the podium is enormous. So we are ready to do all the work necessary to bring both drivers to the top ", added Meregalli.
