Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. and Yamaha Motor Racing Srl regret to announce that Valentino Rossi will not be able to attend the Gran Premio de Aragón this weekend.

– On Sunday October 11, Rossi left the Le Mans circuit and returned home to Tavullia, Italy.

– On Tuesday, October 13, Rossi underwent the usual PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test, which is mandatory for those traveling home between races. The result was available the next day and it was negative.

– On Wednesday, October 14, Rossi felt in great shape and trained at home without any symptoms or inconveniences.

– On Thursday, October 15, he woke up in the morning and felt a little unwell. He had a slight fever and immediately called a doctor. The doctor gave him two tests:

1. A “rapid PCR test”, which came back with a negative result.
2. A standard PCR test, the result of which arrived on Thursday, October 15, at 16 p.m. local time. Unfortunately, this result was positive.

– During his stay at home, from Sunday evening (October 11) until today (October 15), Rossi has not been in contact with anyone present at the Gran Premio de Aragón, including the VR46 Academy drivers, the VR46 staff, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team members, etc.

– Rossi's condition will be closely monitored by the Tavullia medical staff. The situation will be reviewed every day with a view to Rossi's participation in the next MotoGP races.

Valentino Rossi : “unfortunately this morning I woke up and didn't feel well. My bones were sore and I had a slight fever, so I immediately called the Doctor who tested me twice. The result of the “rapid PCR test” was negative, as was the test I took on Tuesday. But the second, the result of which was sent to me at 16 p.m. this afternoon, was unfortunately positive. I am very disappointed to have to miss the race in Aragón. I would like to be optimistic and confident, but I expect that the second round in Aragón will also be “no way” for me… I am sad and angry because I did my best to respect the protocol, and although the test I took on Tuesday was negative, I have isolated myself since my arrival from Le Mans. Either way, it is what it is, and there is nothing I can do to change the situation. I have now followed medical advice and just hope that I feel well soon. »
