For Álex Rins, this 2020 season started rather badly, with a serious injury to his right shoulder (fracture-dislocation) during qualifying for the first MotoGP Grand Prix of the year, in this case that of Spain in Jerez .

Returning to the race far from his best state of form the following weekend, the Suzuki rider then had to try to cope with the spectacular progress of his young teammate Joan Mir. This additional pressure undoubtedly explains some unwelcome falls before last weekend's indisputable victory at the Aragon Grand Prix.

Suddenly, the man who has been working for the Hamamatsu factory for four years begins to dream of an end to the championship in his favor, noting that he is now only 36 points behind the championship leader, his own teammate.

“As for the package we have this year, I have to say that I am really happy with the bike. As we knew, and as everyone can see now, the GSX-RR is very competitive. As far as my fitness goes, this race wasn't really about physical strength, but more about tire management, which kept me going well. »
“Sunday was very special for us because we made a double podium again and that gave us a real boost. Plus, I'm only 36 points behind the leader, Joan, and anything is possible this year. »

Everything has been said, and, to carry out his project, the Barcelonan must perform this weekend on the same Aragón circuit.

“This 2020 season is a very difficult and very short championship, with a lot of consecutive races which are hard work, and I made too many mistakes when I shouldn't have. But the main thing is that we always stay positive and we are always ready to attack in every race. This weekend we go back to Aragón (for the Teruel GP) and we already have a very good base from last week, so we will try to improve and refine some settings, and that's it. »

“Of course I would like to repeat my performance this week, and I will definitely try! But it's difficult and there are always many variables to consider. I need to improve my qualifying, because even though I managed to win from 10th place last week, it's not easy to start far behind and it gives you extra pressure and nervousness. If I can qualify better, I will feel more confident. But anyway, I'm really happy to ride here again for another home GP and I feel good after last weekend. »
