The LCR driver had to get his bearings on the Aragonese track this morning but ended up finding his rhythm to provisionally qualify for Q2.

The first weekend in Aragón ended a little bitterly for Cal Crutchlow who was unable to confirm his potential in free practice due to a clutch problem that occurred on the warm-up lap. Following his eighth final place, he was keen to bounce back immediately this Friday and he had the advantage of benefiting from the same track since the MotoGP field remains there for two consecutive weeks.

But we know that the Grands Prix may take place on the same circuit, but from one weekend to the next the conditions and feelings can change. This was the case for the Englishman who was not very comfortable during FP1 and who even encountered problems with his machine. Tenth at the end of the session, he improved significantly in FP2 and took third position, consolidating him for the moment in the provisional top 10 for Q2.

“To be honest, I didn’t drive at my best with last week’s settings”, did he declare. “We tried to change some things but I think the main problem is the wind so I wasn't 100% on track. I encountered a small technical problem in FP1 and I lost a few good laps but then this afternoon I fitted the hard rear tire which was perhaps not perfect in these conditions but at least we did. we tried. During my second and third runs, I finally set a good pace and took the provisional first line. The team is working very well and I am very optimistic for tomorrow's qualifying. »

All that remains to be confirmed during FP3 and the LCR driver will avoid going through Q1. To be continued tomorrow from 10:55 a.m.…
