The official Ducati rider did rather well at the end of this second meeting on the Aragonese track and leaves relatively satisfied.

This new weekend in Aragón will once again have been very complicated for the Ducati riders, apart from Johann Zarco who managed to do well and secure a final top 5. For his part, Danilo Petrucci saved the furniture by having a good race after difficult free practice.

With a 14th position in FP1 and a 17th position in FP2 and FP3, Q2 seemed very far away and indeed, the Italian did not secure his place to qualify among the first 12. Worse still, he finished his qualifying 19th out of 21... The Grand Prix promised to be very complicated but against all odds and after a difficult start to the race, he managed to come back and get a top 10, the same one that had eluded him last week.

“At the beginning I encountered a lot of difficulty overtaking Bradl, I had difficulty staying in his aspiration”, he told the Italian site GP One. “It was complicated in fourth, fifth and sixth and that was my biggest problem. I'm still happy with how it went. You have to take what you can take, when I was alone my pace wasn't bad. I'm quite happy but going far away and having difficulty overtaking is not my maximum. »

One of the turning points in his race was the moment when he had to overtake his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso, who has barely spoken to him since qualifying last weekend when Petrucci managed to advance to Q2 thanks to his slipstream. , and not number 4.

“When I came back to Andrea I was really careful not to give her a block pass, like I did with Bradl and with Cal [Crutchlow]”, he added. “But I was faster entering the curve while I lost a lot in the other areas of the track. It was difficult to overtake him, I wanted to avoid making a mistake. »

Thanks to his tenth place, Petrucci gained two positions in the championship to rank 11th. Now we're heading to Valencia, where the Italian can't wait to ride: “I'm going to Valencia with good feelings, I always feel good there. The settings we will use will be similar to those in Barcelona, where I had an excellent feeling. I'm positive for Valencia, I think I can fight for a good result. »
