Here we are at the 13th round of this exciting MotoGP season, a number that all superstitious people fear. They will therefore not fail to also note that this weekend is the 13th Grand Prix organized at MotorLand Aragon. The circuit actually hosted its first event in 2010, becoming the sixth Spanish circuit to do so after Jerez, Catalunya, Jarama, Montjuich and Valencia. Aragon is one of five circuits on the calendar that do not run clockwise, along with Austin, Sachsenring, Phillip Island and Valencia…

Who says counterclockwise direction says Marc Marquez at the forefront. Honda's last victory in MotoGP in Aragon is also his prerogative and we were then in 2019. He started from pole position. Honda is the most successful manufacturer on this site with seven MotoGP victories: Casey Stoner in 2011, Dani Pedrosa and in 2012 Marc Marquez in 2013, then from 2016 to 2019.

Yamaha took three MotoGP victories at MotorLand with Jorge Lorenzo in 2014 and 2015, and Franco Morbidelli in 2020/2.(Teruel). The only victory of Ducati in MotoGP in Aragon is that of Casey Stoner in 2010 from pole. Since the Australian's victory, with Nicky Hayden also on the podium, Ducati has secured five podium finishes: Cal Crutchlow (third in 2014), Jorge Lorenzo (third in 2017), Andrea Dovizioso (second in 2018 and '19), and Jack Miller third in 2019.

The only victory of Suzuki in MotoGP in Aragon is that ofalex rins at the 2020 Aragon Grand Prix. The best performance of a Aprilia is the sixth for Alex Espargaro in 2017 and 2018. A performance which was the brand's best result in MotoGP since 2002 until Aleix Espargaro finished third at the last British Grand Prix. Finally, the best result of KTM at MotorLand is a fourth for Pol Espargaro in 2020/2 (Teruel).

Aragon: 24 of the 36 races were won by Spaniards

Spanish drivers are very successful in all categories in Aragon. They have won 24 of 36 races so far. The only non-Spanish drivers to have won on the circuit are Casey Stoner (MotoGP in 2010, 2011), Andrea Iannone (Moto2 in 2010), Romano Fenati (Moto3 in 2014), Miguel Oliveira (Moto3 in 2015), Sam Lowes (Moto2 en 2016, 2020/1,2020/2), Franco Morbidelli (Moto2 in 2017 and MotoGP in 2020/2) and Brad Binder (Moto2 in 2018, 2019).

The victories of Casey Stoner, the second places ofAndrea Dovizioso in 2018 and 2019 and the victory of Franco Morbidelli in 2020/2 the only times a non-Spanish rider stood on the top two steps of the podium in MotoGP at Aragon.

Since 2010, only two riders have won the MotoGP race from pole at Aragon: Casey Stoner (2010, 2011) and Marc Marquez (2013, 2016, 2019). Marquez has been on pole five times out of the seven times he has raced in MotoGP at Aragon. Finally, MotorLand Aragon is one of the five circuits where Valentino Rossi raced in the premier category without having achieved a victory, with Austin, the Red Bull Ring, Buriram and Istanbul.
