 Michelin

If there is a major player in MotoGP that cannot be missed in this Aragon Grand Prix, it is the unique manufacturer Michelin. Since the start of the school year, the Auvergne brand has been the subject of increasingly targeted criticism on the quality of its products from pilots. Silverstone, the last meeting to date, was like a high point, even a final warning. Michelin announces the color for this new deadline in the calendar…

The World Championship returns to the track Aragon which will mark the 13th stage of the season MotoGP 2021 vintage. A meeting which comes after that of the British Grand Prix contested at Silverstone and won by Fabio Quartararo, in front of the Suzuki ofalex rins et Aprilia by Aleix Espargarò. But during which Michelin has been the subject of criticism from pilots more than disappointed to see their tires fade after less than ten laps of the race...

The Motorland in Aragon is one of the most difficult circuits for tires and Michelin will provide specific compounds to deal with it. The route has 10 left and 7 right turns, fast turns and tight turns and a straight line of almost a kilometer. Riders will have three compounds available at the front, soft, medium and hard, all symmetrical, while at the rear the same compounds will have an asymmetrical profile with a harder left side.

Michelin will face a real challenge in Aragon

In case of rain, the rain tires will be with a medium and soft compound both for the front and for the rear with the front symmetrical and the rear asymmetrical.

Piero Taramasso, Head of Two Wheels, Michelin Motorsport commented: “ Last year in Aragon, some sessions were delayed due to very cold temperatures. The asphalt was below 10°C on Friday morning so I hope the conditions will be better this year ».

« The circuit layout is quite challenging for our tire designers as it includes a mixture of corners, from slow and tight to fast and smooth, and the two straights where the speeds of a MotoGP are quite high. When you combine all of these factors every lap it puts a lot of strain on the tires and we have to be sure to deliver our usual high levels of performance to all drivers and crewes. » This is precisely the debate that is taking place this year…
