Aleix Espargaró

We can't stop Aleix Espargaró who intends to confirm this Sunday in Aragon the fine form of his RS-GP born Aprilia. He put it on its first podium two weeks ago at Silverstone and he intends to do it again at Motorland. Or even better than that…

Aleix Espargaró finally tasted the places of honor with his Aprilia and now he wants more, or downright fulfillment. Flanked by a new Grand Prix winning teammate that he helped to install next to him, he intends to show himself to his advantage while this Casa Particular in Viñales makes his mark and, perhaps, then overshadows him. So he announced at the end of a first day where he was second in the ranking: “ yes, I can win here. It will be difficult, of course, but why not? We work very well in the box and then there is Fabio who is fast here but who doesn't have that little extra than elsewhere. So I think it is possible to win. Also because this first day was very positive ».

And he recounts this day like this: “ I don't feel like I rode as well as at Silverstone. I had more difficulty stopping the bike and I tried to ride so as not to make mistakes more than to find the limit. In any case, I am satisfied, I tried different options with the tires, in front of the hard and the medium and behind the three compounds. On this track, tire degradation is quite high, so you have to be careful for Sunday's race ».

Aleix Espargaró: “I can learn a lot from Viñales ”

Focused on himself, Aleix Espargaró is also on his new teammate Maverick Vinales that he studies closely, both to help him and to progress himself. He says : " It was helpful to go out on the track with Maverick, and understand a lot of things. He needs to adapt to the bike and improve his confidence to be really fast, but I'm obsessed with getting better. Riding behind him was helpful, I also analyzed Maverick's videos with Matteo Baiocco, to understand some things about his riding style and the differences between when he used the Aprilia and the Yamaha ».

« This serves to understand why he does things differently and to improve the bike, because seeing these things so different is very useful. Maverick is a great rider, he just needs to learn how to handle the bike, but at the same time I can learn a lot from him, from his riding style. For example, he is faster than me when changing direction with open throttle. It is important for me to never stop in the learning process. I made the podium at Silverstone, but my goal is higher and we are still far away. It is very important to continue to improve ". Aleix Espargaró is on cloud nine.
