Last year, Andrea Dovizioso was poison for Marc Márquez to whom he challenged the victory. A time that seems very distant given the modest tenth place taken at the end of qualifying for this Aragón Grand Prix. A performance of which he readily acknowledges himself guilty while insisting on the fact that the values have tightened from one season to the next... Which makes the domination of Marc Márquez all the more remarkable...

Andrea Dovizioso wants to be clear about the scenario that could be that of Sunday's race: “ I think Marc will run away and unfortunately we can only fight for positions behind him. » This does not suffer from any ambiguity. On his performance DesmoDovi makes amends: “ My problem comes from more than one mistake on my part. I was doing a good lap compared to our potential and I think I could have at least been on the second row. I made a mistake on the brakes, exited turn 12 too late and lost that lap. Then I tried again, but it was the third round with this eraser and it was no longer effective. »

He adds : " in one year, a lot has changed and we have been particularly competitive over the last two years. We are trying harder now, but some rivals who suffered a lot in the past have improved and are going strong. Then the motorcycles, although they have different characteristics, are not that far from each other in terms of performance. So when you are all so close and you don't qualify perfectly, it doesn't take much to find yourself in tenth position on the grid, which also affects the race. This is MotoGP today and we have to adapt and work to improve what is not perfect at the moment. »

He finishes : " I'm really sorry, because I think we have a real chance of fighting for the podium. If you look at the pace of the race with worn tires, I think we are there. The departure will be fundamental and difficult. I will have to try to find myself in the right position in the first five laps, move up the order quickly at the start and then think about building a consistent race pace until the end. We are better off than in Misano, in my opinion. I think we could try to stay together with the Yamahas. »
