Franco Morbidelli had a complicated race this Sunday in Aragon, but finally managed to finish in the top 5. Qualifying third on the grid, he made a bad start and found himself seventh within a few corners. He managed to overtake Fermín Aldeguer on the second lap, and despite an attempt to overtake Brad Binder, he only recovered to fifth position when the South African crashed halfway through the race.

“It was a complicated race. I expected to do better today. I had a lot of rear grip issues early in the race. I had several big heats, one going into Turn 5, I lost the front. Then in Turns 9 and 11, I almost went highside, so I'm really happy to have finished the race. It was very hectic and I fought to keep my position. Luckily, I managed it.”, he said during his debriefing.
"The fight with Aldeguer was great, but I struggled a lot. It's as if this weekend we worked really well on one lap but not enough for the two races, because I didn't feel like I had much potential at the start of the sprint race or the start of the Grand Prix. I took too many risks to come back after a terrible start."
The VR46 driver will be back on track tomorrow for an official test day with the entire grid, and hopes to take advantage of it to best prepare for his home GP in two weeks. "During tomorrow's test, it will be important to have a good work schedule to arrive at Mugello in good shape. We are all motivated for our home race.", he concluded.
