Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez knows it more than anyone, Aragon is the kind of track he loves. And for good reason: it’s a circuit that runs counterclockwise… Like the Sachsenring or even Austin. It is not for nothing that he has five pole positions and as many victories. However, he reminds us before going to this site located two hours from his home: these performances were before. That being said, for the German Grand Prix the speech was the same…

Marc Marquez has a great opportunity Aragon to rediscover the meaning of the march lost since its success rich in emotion at Sachsenring. Like his three falls recorded during the last meeting at Silverstone, nothing is really going well for the official Honda whose level of form is slow to rise to what it was before the accident in Jerez in July 2020… The eight-time world champion is, however, traditionally the fastest man in MotorLand and the progress is there Nevertheless. So, will he be able to achieve another success despite a somewhat more difficult course than expected recently?

Perhaps, but for the moment, in the vigil of arms, Marc Marquez is more than cautious: “ Aragon is still a track I enjoy racing at and we have had some great results in the past ". Then he adds: “ but we cannot rely on what we have done in the past, in 2021 we arrive in a different situation. So we have to face the weekend in the right way, see our level and see what our opponents will do ».

Will Marc Marquez be in less shape than the Honda?

He also specifies: “ It’s great to be back at MotorLand after missing the 2020 round and we hope we can put on a show for the fans. Over the last few races we have been getting closer to the leaders, so the aim is to continue on this path and see what is possible on Sunday »

Last year, Alex Marquez won his first podium in dry weather in Aragon and his second career in MotoGP, as a rookie and Nakagami won pole. Honda can therefore be optimistic and all the more so since Silverstone, apart from Marc Marquez, had not been a depressing stage:  Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) was ill on race day, but his teammate Alex Marquez (LCR Honda Castrol) had one of its best Sundays of the year so far, and Pol I will espargaro (Repsol Honda Team) certainly had his best weekend since joining Honda. Starting from pole, leading for quite a while and finishing fifth, the number 44 took a big step forward.
