MotoGP Aragon

It's been official for a few days now: Aragon will be relegated to the status of a reserve circuit from 2028, but will still host the MotoGP World Championship in 2027. By making this choice, MotoGP SEG takes a step towards a less Hispanic future, but still retains a circuit capable of hosting the world championship caravan in case political or economic disruptions jeopardize other events, as has frequently been the case since the beginning of the 2020s.

Aragon has hosted MotoGP since 2010, and even hosted two Grands Prix in 2020, during the pandemic. « MotorLand Aragón has been an important partner of MotoGP for almost two decades and plays a key role in the championship's presence in Spain. The renewal for 2027 reflects both the strength of this collaboration and the value that the event brings to the region. We are very happy to continue our collaboration and to keep Aragon within the MotoGP family in the years to come as a reserve circuit. » declared Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP.

Organizing the Aragon Grand Prix represents an investment of 12 million euros and generates significant economic benefits for the region. On an annual basis, MotorLand Aragón generates nearly 50 million euros in direct and indirect economic impact, almost half of which is directly linked to the MotoGP Grand Prix.

Jorge Azcon, the president of the Aragon region, is particularly enthusiastic about seeing this contract extended. « We are pleased to confirm that the Aragon Grand Prix will return next year. The engines will roar again on the Alcañiz circuit in 2027. MotorLand will also remain linked to MotoGP between 2028 and 2031 as a reserve circuit » he concluded. The next Aragon Grand Prix will take place in 2026, from August 28 to 30.
