This Saturday April 2, 2022, Fabio Quartararo answered questions from journalists from the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit at the end of the first day of running of the Argentine Grand Prix.
We went to listen (via teleconferencing software) to the words of the French driver who was hampered by Jack Miller in qualifying.
As usual, we report here the words of Fabio Quartararo without the slightest formatting, even if it is partially translated (vouvoiement in English, tutoiement in French).
Can you tell us about what happened with Jack Miller during qualifying, and have you already had time to go and talk to him, after already an incident in Indonesia?
fabio quartararo : " To be honest, on this circuit, if you don't do your lap time in the first few laps, you're already losing a bit because turn six is generally a corner where you spin as soon as you're on the left. You have more traction and he wasn't really on the line, but in this kind of corner when you arrive very quickly in fourth, when you have someone not in the middle but generally on the racing line, it It's disturbing. So for me it's not okay to run like that. But that's how it is, I did my best and we know we lost a little: fortunately, I don't think I've ever braked as hard and as late in my life as at turn 5! I did my best and I think the second row is maybe not the best we could have done, but it is what it is and I think we are in a good position for the race, considering that we had a rhythm which is not the best but which is not bad. So I think we can fight for a very good result. »

Are you surprised by Aprilia's pole position?
« I was surprised by their day, not the pole position, because they did one and two in FP2. So I'm not really surprised by the pole position, but to be honest I'm surprised by the way Aleix Espargaró managed to have such pace with the soft tire: it was fantastic, so there's a good chance , if he makes a good start, may he escape. But my pace is not bad because I decided to do a lap with a rear tire for 15 laps, and I did 39.2. So we'll see the tire tomorrow and see how it goes. »
Do you think you already have information for tomorrow, with the few test sessions, and have you been able to speak to Miller?
« I think that, compared to the sessions, we can see. We managed to do a lot of things but it's true that it's difficult to do everything in one day. Plus, we started quite late, so I think it's quite difficult. With two sessions, it's true that with one more session we could have done a little more.
With Jack, no, we spoke about Indonesia, but about here, no, because I have just finished my debrief. But I think it's not really fair play to put himself, not really on the line, but he knows very well what he's going to do by putting himself in that position. So I don't think it's fair play. »
