This press conference of the Argentine Grand Prix MotoGP 2025 who brought together Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez et Franco Morbidelli for their debriefing, also confirms the 4th double of the Marquez brothers in four races.
Marc Marquez is the first driver of all time to achieve a grand slam of pole, fastest lap and victory, in both the Sprint Race and the Grand Prix Race in two consecutive Grands Prix.
As usual, we report here in full the words of the latter, without the slightest formatting, even if it is translated from English.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Grand Prix press conference here at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, following the YPF Energy Argentinian Grand Prix. After Thailand, the opening round, it's a bit of the same feeling, as we once again have the Marquez 1-2. Congratulations to Ducati Lenovo Team rider Marc Marquez!
Marc, winner of the Sprint and Grand Prix for the second race in a row, claimed his 90th Grand Prix victory today, tying him with Spanish legend Angel Nieto for third place on the all-time Grand Prix winners list. Congratulations again, Marc, you've achieved a fantastic feat! BK8 Gresini Racing rider Alex Marquez took second place and gave it his all during the 25-lap race here in Termas. Congratulations, Alex, another podium for you in 2025! And it's great to welcome Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider Franky Morbidelli, his first podium with the team and his first in four long years since 2021. Congratulations, Franky! Gentlemen, well done to all three of you!
We'll start the press conference with you, Marc. We saw the celebrations at Turn 1 with your fans and the garland for Angel Nieto, but Alex really made you work hard for this today, didn't he?
Marc Marquez : “Yes, of course, first of all, I’m very happy! It’s a great honor to equal Angel Nieto because he is and has been super important for everyone in Spanish motorcycling, and yes, he opened the doors to the world championship. So it’s an honor to equal him, but today I was impressed by Alex’s level: he was riding super well, super fast, he always kept the speed in the corners, and at one point in the race, I had a few heats and I said to myself, ‘OK, today second place is enough.’ But in the second part of the race, I realized that with the used tire, I was starting to catch up, and I attacked. The first attack wasn’t perfect, but the second was better. And yes, a perfect weekend once again. Thanks to the Ducati Lenovo Team!” We had a surplus of (?) this weekend because I didn't feel comfortable at the beginning, and we suffered, but we suffered in a good way because we got the most out of the weekend."
Where do you feel you had that little advantage over Alex, to attack and pull away in the last 3 or 4 laps, a bit like you did in Thailand 2 weeks ago?
“Today here, he set the bike up maybe more for cornering speed and smoothness, and I set the bike up a little bit more for the hard braking zones, which is my strongest point. And I had a little bit more in the hard braking zones, but when I was behind him, I wasn't able to brake the way I wanted. But he was very smooth, and honestly, every lap I was thinking about Turn 6, because it's a left-hander and I was thinking, 'There's no way he's faster than me here!' (laughs), but he was! I tried different lines, I tried different ways to open the throttle and I tried different ways to position my body, but every lap he was faster. And yes, in some corners he was faster, but especially Turn 6 was the one I was thinking about throughout the race and how to get through it.”
With today's roaring crowd, how important is it to come back here next year?
"Of course, coming back here or not, I don't know if we'll come back, but I hope so. But we know that MotoGP has to focus a little bit on opening the doors, not only in Europe, not only in Asia, but also in America and South America, which are very important and have a huge fan base. So I hope that for the future, I know that, MotoGP is working to have a little less races in Europe. But that's normal, I mean we have to have more races in the United States, in South America and open the world of MotoGP to all the fans."
