Although he was able to get back on track, bastianini He found himself 12 seconds behind the second-to-last and with one wing missing. He spent the race trying to catch Somkiat Chantra, whom he overtook with four laps to go to cross the finish line in 17th place.
"At least I didn't finish last.", did he declare. “My race ended very quickly. I was happy because I had a good start and I was already fighting for 13th place on the second lap, but Raúl Fernández pushed me to the outside and I crashed. Then I came back on track and just tried to get the bike to the finish. I had no left wing left, but despite that I had a good pace. I just had bad luck. From the moment we touched, the bike started to behave strangely because of the missing wing. Otherwise, everything was fine, I just ran out of tires four laps from the finish after having to push to try to get back in front.”, he added to GP One.
Enea Bastianini will try to forget his mishap at the Grand Prix of the Americas, which will be held in two weeks on the Austin circuit, a track which has been successful for him in the past with a victory in 2022 and a podium finish last year.
