Of all the pilots who made the flight to Argentina, not only is Valentino Rossi the one who is awaited with the most fervor (we remember that he wore Diego Maradona's jersey in 2015) and he is also the only one who managed to reach the podium 3 times during the 4 editions which took place at Termas de Rio Hondo.

Currently 3rd in the world championship, the Yamaha rider therefore has every reason to be particularly motivated for this 2nd round of the season, even if he knows perfectly well that nothing is assured in advance, in particular because of the the uncertainty linked to the new partial resurfacing of the South American runway.

Valentino Rossi : “Last year we were very strong in Argentina. We finished first and second and I think it was our team's best race that season. But since then, the balance of the peloton has changed and our rivals are now stronger. It will be a tough fight, but I love the track and usually our bike works well there. It could be a surprising weekend, but I hope to be strong. »

Massimo Meregalli, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team manager: “We finished the first round in Qatar with a good feeling, so this weekend we intend to build on that experience. It's quite a journey for the team to travel to Argentina, but it's worth it when you see how happy the home fans are to be able to enjoy the spectacle right in front of them. The Termas de Río Hondo circuit is also a good circuit for us in general. It fits our YZR-M1, and our riders both love the track. Last year’s double from Maverick and Vale makes us all the more excited to start working towards another strong result this weekend.”
