After failing to qualify directly for Q2, Jorge Lorenzo only managed to secure fourteenth position on the starting grid. He will have to count on favorable weather conditions to be able to get back to the front and fight against the leading men.
It was with the ninth time that Jorge Lorenzo completed his first practice session, just behind Valentino Rossi et Andrea Dovizioso. Friday afternoon went much less well and the Spaniard had to settle for sixteenth position in the classification combined for the first two sessions.
The third session on Saturday did not allow him to catch up due to unfavorable weather conditions, and his sixteenth position put Lorenzo directly towards Q1 in order to then be able to participate in Q2 which brought together the twelve best.
Jorge Lorenzo failed to finish among the first two in Q1, dominated by Alex Espargaro and Andrea Dovizioso. He will therefore start in fourteenth position on the starting grid.
According to Jorge Lorenzo, « It was another difficult day for us. This morning the conditions were very strange, with the track half dry and half wet, and we struggled to find a good feeling.
“In the afternoon, with the track even wetter, we were quite fast and in Q1, when an almost dry line formed on the track, I was first before returning to the pits.
“Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding with my team who put a soft rear instead of a medium rear, I was only able to improve by half a second and that was not enough to pass in Q2.
“In any case, let's hope it doesn't rain tomorrow, so I can make the most of the warm-up and improve the bike for the race. »
