The Argentinian weekend presented itself with difficulty for Andrea Dovizioso; he was only able to climb to fifteenth position after the first three free practice sessions. He then had to go through Q1 where he saved an eighth position on the starting grid, which was not brilliant for the leader of the World Championship.
After a start of rare complexity, Dovizioso completed the first lap in seventh position. A small group formed at the head with Jack Miller, Alex Rins, Johann Zarco and Cal Crutchlow, while much further back Dovi defended his fifth place against the two official Yamahas of Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales.

Crutchlow ultimately won the event ahead of Zarco, Rins and Miller. Meanwhile, Andrea Dovizioso managed to save sixth place in the middle of a group including Tito Rabat, Andrea Iannone, Hafizh Syahrin and Danilo Petrucci.
According to Andrea Dovizioso, « We knew that in the dry we would not qualify in the top ten, Dovi told Sky Sport.
“We were actually slow on Friday and the semi-wet track was even worse. We were very lucky, there were two or three drivers playing in the championship and we got a sixth place, but we can't be happy.
The former leader of the World Championship criticized the behavior of Marc Marquez who mowed down Valentino Rossi a few laps from the finish line and almost did not do the same thing with Aleix Espargarò: “ Today, it was poorly managed. When you're on a track where you're a second faster, it should be easy to bring home the maximum result.
“He did everything he shouldn’t have done. It will be difficult for him to get out of the paddock because I think the Argentinians are very hot…”
“Everyone is stronger than others in some ways, but everyone has weaknesses. We need to look at our own, and first bring important results home. »
