He's the latest winner in Argentina: Marco Bezzecchi is right at home in Thailand. This weekend has the appearance of a strange alignment of the planets for him: no Jorge Martin in the box, an Ogura apparently less strong than in Thailand, a bike already victorious on this circuit and his talent, of course, which allowed him to take off in the wet in 2023. The "Bez" was fourth at the end of Practice: a very encouraging result that could well launch his season. Marc Marquez keeps an eye on him and we understand why.

Bezzecchi was particularly happy at the end of the first day, but still determined. "I am quite happy: the objective of entering Q2 directly has been achievedI still need to improve the fast lap in the dry, but we worked well with different types of tires, both front and rear. Tomorrow we will try to continue like this » he affirmed in the columns of Sky Sports. Remember that the timed lap is one of his weak points. He will have to succeed in this exercise if he wants to win, it is imperative.

 

 

Alone since the start of the season, his solitude will continue at least until the Qatar Grand Prix in mid-April. Jorge Martin announced yesterday that he would miss the GP of the Americas, and it's a double-edged sword. Marco Bezzecchi can thus dictate the development of the Aprilia RS-GP, without a reigning World Champion to hinder his plans: « Development without Martin? With him, I don't know how it would have gone. In any case, the team followed my feedback, they listen to me. I received more attention from the engineers, but I'm sorry, because in a way, it could have been a great incentive. We did a good job and we will be in good shape when Jorge returns » he continued.

 

 

Can he fight for victory in only his second race with Aprilia? While Marc Marquez included Bezzecchi in his list of dangerous riders, the Italian is more cautious: « We are not as fit as the Marquez brothers. But we did a good job and I appreciate it. This bike is more physical, I still have to work on myself." he concluded.
