The final session of an atypical day conducted at a frenetic pace, this qualifying #2 will determine the place of each of the 12 drivers on the first four rows of the starting grid for the Argentine Grand Prix.

This morning, in an FP1 extended to 60 minutes, Takaaki Nakagami, Fabio Quartararo, Pol Espargaró, Aleix Espargaró, Marco Bezzecchi, Álex Rins, Miguel Oliveira, Maverick Viñales, Brad Binder and Joan Mir pre-qualified for Q2 with ultimately convincing times despite a track known to have poor grip and was extremely dirty at the start of the day.

During the second and final free practice session, Aleix Espargaró, Maverick Viñales, Jack Miller, Fabio Quartararo, Brad Binder, Álex Rins, Joan Mir, Jorge Martín and Johann Zarco finally took the upper hand to snatch their direct passage into this Q2 which usually lasts 15 minutes. Following the first qualification, they were joined by Pol Espargaro and Takaaki Nakagami who will not have much time to breathe to defend their chances.

As the pilots prepare, the sky is still clear with temperatures of 27° in the air and 40° on the ground.
