Jorge Martínez “Aspar” spoke exclusively to El Larguero on Cadena SER about statements from Michel Fabrizio a few days ago.

Saturday was a day of mourning for the entire motorcycle world, as the red flag for the race World Supersport 300 did not bode well. In this accident involving a group of five riders, we unfortunately lost Dean Berta Viñales moments later. As soon as the news spread throughout the paddock and beyond at the Circuito de Jerez, all family members and those close to motorcycling poured in with words of support for the family of the 15-year-old rider, including Jorge Martínez Aspar.

The death of Dean Berta Viñales in Jerez, another hard blow for the motorcycling family…
" It is sad and hard news. We must not forget that motorcycling is a risky sport... When there is an accident on the track in a group of 15 bikers, there are things that we cannot avoid, and that is the dodging another biker. Maybe one rider dodges it but the other doesn't. It is a misfortune that is difficult to avoid. »

“There are a lot of standards, and if you don’t respect them, there’s no competition, that’s how it is.”

Aspar puts himself in the shoes of race management during this difficult time for everyone…
" In favor of the FIM and Dorna I must say that during each Grand Prix weekend, and I attended the meetings of the safety commission, it is beastly. If the circuit doesn't have the right clearance zones, if the asphalt isn't correct, if the paint isn't non-slip... There are a lot of standards, and if you don't respect them, it won't There’s no competition, that’s how it is. »

Just today we learned that the FIM and Dorna, in collaboration with the RFME, are discussing raising the age restrictions for races...
" I am in favor of raising the age, because obviously, the more experience we have, the more we are aware of many things. I would increase it by one or two years. The very young kids have a lot of experience, they've been competing since they were ten years old, and when they turn 15 you hear them talking and they sound like they're 30 years old. »

“In the school that I have with Nico Terol, I would like everyone to want to be a Marc Márquez”.

Michel Fabrizio made controversial statements after the Viñales tragedy, saying that young drivers wanted to emulate Márquez's follies. Aspar therefore opposed the Italian’s comments…
“Mark Márquez is a world reference in everything, I would like there to be more drivers like Marc, because he is a driver who showed seriousness, closeness, hunger, aggressiveness… He is a model driver . In the school that I have with Nico Terol, I would like everyone to want to be a Marc Márquez. I think it's shameful for a pilot to talk like that. I don't know where this person ran into. »
