Less than a week after his outburst against a track marshal in SprintMarco Bezzecchi has been penalized again at Assen. Okay, this time it's not such a serious infraction, and he won't be suspended on Saturday or Sunday. But these repeated mistakes and lapses in judgment are starting to take their toll, both financially and in terms of his performance. Marc Marquez is rapidly closing the gap, and with him, the pressure is mounting dramatically for the Italian rider. He needs to learn from this.
Today's infraction was less serious, admittedly, but still punishable. Indeed, after leading FP1 this morning in the Assen cathedral, Bezzecchi practiced his starts like his rivals. These are crucial now that the Holeshot Device is banned. The problem is that he overtook drivers who were stopped, ready to start their race. And that's against the law.

He was therefore fined €2000, which may seem insignificant, but is nonetheless substantial: indeed, he had already committed the same error in Brno less than seven days earlier, as reported. Todocircuito ! This was therefore a repeat offense, which is punishable by the authorities. This morning, Augusto Fernandez made exactly the same mistake, and received a fine of only €1000.

The fact that Bezzecchi was penalized for the same reason a week ago raises questions. The mistakes are piling up, and taken together, they are costly. Fortunately, Bezzecchi seems to have good pace on the Assen circuit, a track where he has always performed well in MotoGP. There's no doubt he'll be one of the favorites this weekend… provided he doesn't commit any further rule violations, of course. Marc Marquez, only 40 points behind, wouldn't ask for that much.
What do you think of this fine, and above all, what does it mean to you? Tell us in the comments!
