After two impressive victories at Barcelona and the Sachsenring, it's a fabio quartararo dominator who looms for the 11th round of the MotoGP World Championship, which will be held at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands this weekend. The Dutch GP is the last race before the MotoGP summer break.

Although ill to face the unbearable heat that reigned at the Sachsenring, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider scored another resounding victory and now leads the championship with a 34-point lead.

After his first victory on German soil, on a circuit that he finds difficult, the Frenchman is even more optimistic about his chances at the Motul TT Assen, on a circuit that he loves. The Devil has achieved impressive results in the Netherlands so far. During his first year in Moto3 (2015), he obtained a second place. He matched that feat in the Moto2 class in 2018 and followed that up with a third place in the MotoGP class in 2019 and a win in 2021 after a year-long pandemic break at Assen.

The TT Circuit Assen was purpose-built for the Dutch GP in 1955, but Assen has been part of the Motorcycle World Championship calendar every year since 1949, when the race was still held on public roads. The current Assen circuit is 4,5 km long and remains a favorite among drivers thanks to its quick changes of direction, combined with a nice mix of high-speed and low-speed corners (six left and twelve right). Particularly entertaining is the Geert Timmer chicane just before the start-finish straight, right in front of the main grandstand.

Fabio Quartararo: « I am very happy with this victory at the Sachsenring. I rode well in Barcelona, but in a way the Sachsenring was even better because I did it when I wasn't feeling well. I enjoyed a few days of rest and now I'm feeling better again, so I'm ready for the Assen race. We have good memories from last year there with the team. It's one of my favorite circuits, so I think we can still have a good race. »

Massimo Meregalli: « We approach the Assen round with optimism. We couldn't expect victory at Sachsenring, because on paper it's not our strongest circuit. But Fabio's performances, even when he was ill, are on another level. In theory, the next circuit should suit us even better. Assen is a circuit that both our drivers really like, which is a good thing because we want to give one last push before the summer break to finish the first half of the season in the best possible way. »
