Marco Bezzecchi Assen

Marco Bezzecchi played at the forefront this Friday at Assen, but is being cautious and does not forget that his weak point remains Saturday.

After a complicated start to the season, Marco Bezzecchi seems to have taken control of the Aprilia and is continuing the good momentum he started since his victory at Silverstone. He is indeed increasingly at the forefront in practice and races, even if he continues to suffer a little more in qualifying.

Third in FP1 this morning and fourth in Practice this afternoon, the Italian driver had a solid first day on the Assen circuit, even if he considers that he encountered some difficulties.

"I have to say I felt better this morning. This afternoon, there was a moment where I struggled a bit more because I was testing the medium front tire, there were a lot of crashes, yellow flags and unfortunately also red flags, and so it was difficult to get into the rhythm. I wasn't able to always push hard and keep the front tire warm. I wasn't extremely fast with this front tire because I felt a bit on eggshells, but then fortunately I found a good feeling again when I did my time attack.", he explained.

However, he automatically qualified for Q2, which allows him to focus fully on his qualification tomorrow, without having to prepare for Q1. The #72 driver was satisfied, although he remains cautious, knowing that qualifying has clearly been his weak point since the start of the season. We particularly remember his 20th place in Aragon three weeks ago.

“It’s always great to have a good Friday and manage to get straight into Q2. That’s the main goal every Friday and we’re happy when we achieve it. Getting into Q2 is perhaps the best thing about today, which went well, even though the afternoon was tough because of the conditions.”he said.

"We have to keep working and improving on a few points, but it didn't go too badly, even during the time attack. So we have to stay focused, especially me, because usually on Saturday the other drivers are a step ahead of me in the time attack. That will be my main goal for tomorrow. I'll try to keep improving to have a good qualifying."
