Fabio Quartararo Assen

Despite starting from pole position, Fabio Quartararo again suffered problems with his Yamaha at the start of the race, when grip was low.

The Dutch Grand Prix was supposed to be a day of celebration for Yamaha, which celebrated its 70th anniversary today, two days before the official date. For the occasion, the four M1s had a special livery, and the drivers were keen to have a great race to make these commemorative colours shine.

Unfortunately, none of the Yamaha representatives were able to finish at the front. The situation is all the more frustrating for fabio quartararo that he was starting from pole position and could really hope to achieve a good result.

But from the start, the Frenchman lost places, finishing the first lap in fifth position. He had even dropped to eighth when he was forced to widen to avoid the impressive crash of Fermín Aldeguer and Joan Mir in front of him on the fifth lap.

Starting in 14th place, he gradually moved up as the track gained grip, and crossed the finish line in tenth place. A result that was obviously far from his expectations, and which, in addition to his crash in yesterday's sprint race, ended the weekend on a sour note.

"We're still struggling in the first few laps with grip, where we're... pff we're rubbish.", dropped a Quarterly frustrated at the microphone of Canal +. "Then there was a bit of bad luck and then I got stuck behind a group of riders. I think my pace was three or four tenths faster, but it's still just as difficult to overtake. When the track starts to have grip, our pace is much better. That's where we really need to improve."
