Jack Miller Assen

Jack Miller was unable to perform a miracle at Assen, like the other Yamaha riders, and had to settle for 14th place.

Jack Miller had another complicated Grand Prix at the Assen circuit. The Australian rider never managed to get on the pace, like the other Yamaha representatives, except for Fabio Quartararo who took pole position. In the race, the performances between the four riders were evenly matched, and none of them were able to shine to celebrate Yamaha's 70th anniversary.

The weekend of Miller was summed up by number 14: qualifying in 14th place, he finished the sprint race and the main race in 14th position. While he hardly moved from this position on Saturday, on Sunday he managed to enter the top 10, before spending most of the race in 11th place. However, he began to slip back during the last third of the race to cross the finish line in 14th place.

Jack Miller Assen

If he wore a special livery for Yamaha's 70th anniversary, the festivities were not in the spotlight at the time of debriefing, since the drivers all finished between 10th and 14th place, in addition to the retirement of Miguel Oliveira. Jack Miller, the problem lay, as often, in the difficulty of overtaking, in addition to an engine braking problem encountered on this race.

“I spent the race stuck in the middle of the group, fighting. I was behind Enea [Bastianini] for a long time and couldn’t do much. Even when Fabio passed me, I was curious to see what he could do, because he seemed to have a bit more speed, but he also got stuck. With a similar pace, you have to wait for someone to make a mistake to overtake, otherwise it’s really difficult and you’re never really in a position to do more.”, he explained.

"We had a bit of trouble with the engine braking. I switched to Map 2 on lap 3, then Map 3 on lap 10, and from then on, it was over, I couldn't do anything. We gathered some good information this weekend, information on the bike, but also on the areas where we clearly need to improve. We'll see what we can do in Germany."
