Little by little, Joan Mir is progressing in this 2022 season, with results constantly increasing since the start of the championship. The Suzuki driver came very close to the podium during the last round in Argentina, narrowly beaten by his teammate Álex Rins.

The 2020 World Champion answered questions from journalists in the preamble to the GP of the Americas, and we transcribe his entire remarks here.

Joan, what are your expectations for this race in the United States?
« This GP is always special for all of us, because it is a very special track. I can't wait to get started, and I always feel like I'm very strong here, even if in the end I was never able to get a good result there. So I would like that to be the case this time. I think we are improving with each race, which is very important. So we'll see what we can do here. The first day will be important to fully understand the bike, the trajectory on the track, and of course the new surface. »

We are of course only at the third race, but do you already feel some progress in the garage and on your bike since your complicated start to the season in Qatar?
« It is clear that we are already feeling a change, even if it is not necessarily noticeable. Everything is going well, the people in the team are calmer because everyone knows what they have to do. The team has worked well beforehand, and making changes directly during the GP is not something Livio Suppo wants. On the contrary, he wants to make small modifications during the weekend. »

This weekend we are celebrating the 500th race organized by Dorna. Which GP has had the most impact on you over the last three decades?
« I especially remember the 2006 season, when Valentino Rossi rode the Yamaha with the superb Camel yellow livery. »
