After his victory in Indonesia, Miguel Oliveira returned to the ranks in Argentina with a distant 13th place at the finish. A checkered start to the season which makes it difficult to interpret the true level of competitiveness of the KTM RC16 this year.

The Portuguese driver answered questions from journalists in the preamble to the GP of the Americas. We transcribe his entire remarks here.

Miguel, how are you experiencing the start of the season? You still seem to be suffering from inconsistent results...
« I won in Indonesia, so for the moment this is my best start to the season in MotoGP. We will indeed try to do better in terms of consistency during this season which promises to be very long. I am therefore fairly sure that these first three rounds are not representative of the overall results that we will have at the end of the season. »

You've had some good races with Brad Binder so far, but qualifying remains an area for improvement. Is there a particular parameter that you can play on to try to perform better on a lap?
« Qualifying has really become very important in MotoGP given the level of aerodynamics we have now on the bikes. Succeeding in qualifying well is a good first step towards a good result in the race. But it is true that there are necessarily technical levers that we can press to go faster. »
