Pecco, Bagnaia

Little by little, Pecco Bagnaia is regaining his sensations and his confidence on the handlebars of a Ducati, which he doesn't like being thrown around in the middle of a Grand Prix. The brand has adapted to this and this new internal balance has brought an Italian driver to the forefront. However, he was only ninth on this first day in Austin dominated by the Desmosedici. But he knows the reason, which does not call into question his new dynamic...

Pecco Bagnaia gradually returns to the race after a mental clash whose final bouquet was perhaps his nervous breakdown during the qualifications in Argentina. In Austin, this Friday, he was calm, and even if he lacked success to finish this first Texan day at the top of the table, he remains confident for the future: “ To be able to start like that it took a lot of work, we had to fix some things, but I'm happy to have these feelings. Just thinking about riding and improving helps me be better prepared, that's an advantage » comments the 2021 world vice-champion.

Moto GP | Austin GP Day 1: Bagnaia, “We worked on the race pace”

Pecco Bagnaia: “ Marc Marquez will certainly be fast, it's his track«

« It's clear and positive. In FP2 I mainly focused on the pace, Saturday we will have to go directly into Q2 and work on the tires » he adds, even detailing: “ when you have a good pace, like mine, you have to enter Q2 straight away. This is important because in FP4 you can focus exclusively on the race, without thinking about anything else. Saturday morning I want to confirm some changes we made and then I will use two tires for the time trial ».

On his ninth place, he reassures: “ I made a mistake, I went far at turn 11. The sensations in the saddle were excellent, we started this weekend in a normal way and I could only think about improving ". He ends by assessing the forces present: “ Ducati is strong, as are Suzuki and Aprilia with Viñales. Marc Marquez will certainly be fast too, it's his track. At the moment I see the Desmosedici competitive, so we will have to continue in this direction ».
